Tibor Kalman's paper weight
I walked into Tibor's office at M&Co. at 157 West 57th Street to talk about a design job he had hired me for. Sitting on his desk was this magnificent little object. It was ingenious. Tibor had rumpled up a legal-size piece of paper and had it made into a weighted sculpture. It was, literally, a paper weight. It was beautifully crafted. So simple. So brilliant. The world was more interesting when Tibor was in it.
