A note from the blogger
This blog, illoinfo, is my humble way of staying connected with the magical world of editorial illustrators. It started out with intensely passionate and personal feelings that I wanted to share (my love of illustration that sustained me throughout my entire career as a magazine art director). There was no greater joy for me (other than picking fonts) than the opportunity to work with incredible artists.
But it has been a while since I posted on this blog. I developed performance anxiety. After posting for a while, I started to develop anxiety attacks and stressing out. I was pouring too much of my heart into posting, which was creating conflicting emotions. Don’t ask. It was all internal and invisible to the outsider. So I took some time out. And regrouped.
Now, in order to better meet my mission of celebrating great editorial illustration, I’ve decided to simplify. Each post will be brief and heartfelt, and will also include a few tidbits of information (website, clients, awards, timeline, quote). I will also include six wonderful examples of each artist’s work. This way I can avoid the agonizing (for me) need to dive deep into research and scholarly angst. This blog is to celebrate artists, not to be a scholarly journal. Phew! I feel better now!
Also, being a blog, my choices are all personal and not conclusive. No one is paying me or sponsoring me. No one tells me who to write about. It is my free space to share what I love, and support the artist community.
